Police seek suspicous man carrying rifle

Updated: July 23, 2013 6:15AM

Police in Waukegan and North Chicago are looking for man with a Mohawk who was seen walking around with a rifle Friday afternoon, June 21.

North Chicago police said the man, described as Hispanic, no shirt, blue jeans and white shoes, possibly with a goatee or mustache, got out of his van with a rifle at 14th and Lincoln Avenue around 1:30 p.m. He did not talk to anyone and did not point the gun at anyone, just ran around and then got back in the van and fled westbound on 14th Street.

Waukegan police had a similar incident just before the one in North Chicago, although the man may have talked to someone.

Waukegan police said a suspect with a Mohawk walked into an auto repair shop at 13th and Jackson streets carrying an SKS rifle in one hand and what appeared to be an extra magazine in his other hand. He walked in and asked the clerk at the counter for a specific person and he was told there was no one there by that name.

The man left and got into a blue Dodge or Chrysler van and drove northbound on Jackson Street.
