A 31-year-old Lindenhurst woman has sued Abbott Laboratories after she was run over twice by a truck while walking from her car in the parking lot of Abbott Park.
The personal injury lawsuit was filed Monday in Cook County Circuit Court by the Waukegan law firm of Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard.
In the early morning of April 6, Shannon Rosberg, an employee of Collins Consulting at Abbott Laboratories, suffered severe injuries while walking into an Abbott office building, according to the suit.
While a truck was reversing, the driver felt a “slight resistance,” which was Rosberg, the law firm said he told authorities. Instead of stopping the truck to determine what had been hit, the driver allegedly pulled forward running over her body a second time.
Rosberg suffered massive internal injuries, including a crushed pelvis, several broken ribs and significant injuries to her internal organs. She was in a coma, but will likely survive.
“The police report and statements from witness accounts all show that the defendant driver was negligent. Abbott Laboratories also failed to protect the people going from the parking lot to their building,” said Patrick Salvi, Rosberg attorney. “The Abbott truck driver was negligent, the company was negligent . . . and we intend on proving that in court.”
