Top workplace: The Warren-Newport Public Library District has ranked among the Top 100 Workplaces in 2011 by independent research company Workplace Dynamics. Among small organizations in the Chicago area, the library scored in the top tier for conditions that make staff feel “genuinely appreciated,” “part of something meaningful,” and give staff “the flexibility I need to balance my work and personal life.” One of only a handful of public organizations in the award group, Warren-Newport was the only library ranked as a Top 100 Workplace.

Auction: Westfield Hawthorn will display three handcrafted wooden dollhouses Dec. 1 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Gap Court, 122 Hawthorn Center. The dollhouses will be auctioned to the highest bidders, with all proceeds benefiting Lambs Farm. There will be complimentary wine and hors d’ oeuvres along with music.
