Police are still looking for a suspect in connection with armed robberies in Winthrop Harbor and Zion in January.
A white male in his late 40s to early 50s, around 6-foot 2-inches tall and weighing about 200 pounds walked into Harbor Foods the evening of Jan. 10 and picked out some items, went to the register showing the clerk a gun tucked in his waistband and told her to put money in the bag. He then pointed the gun at another clerk.
Three days later, a man with a similar description robbed the Walgreens at 2100 Sheridan Road in Zion. A manager at the store declined to discuss the robbery and Zion police did not return telephone calls.
“It looks like the same offender, just different clothes,” said Detective Chris Willets of the Winthrop Harbor Police Department.
