GURNEE — Two people were wounded in a shooting following a disturbance involving 15 patrons of In-Laws Restaurant and Sports Lounge late Wednesday.

Police were called to the restaurant at 720 N. Milwaukee Ave., just before midnight. One of the first officers on the scene reported the sound of gunshots and a dark-colored SUV leaving the scene with its lights off heading south on Route 21, police said Thursday.

Another officer stopped the vehicle at Washington Street and Route 21 where it appeared to have multiple bullet holes in it. Police also found a handgun on the ground near the vehicle and other evidence was also recovered outside the vehicle, but police did not identify it.

The driver had a hand injury and was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center, Libertyville, and a 27-year-old male from North Chicago was treated and released.

At 12:14 a.m. Thursday, police learned there was a 33-year-old North Chicago man at Vista Medical Center West, Waukegan, being treated for a gunshot wound to his leg. He told emergency personnel that he was shot at In-Laws in Gurnee.

Authorities did not release names of the wounded.

Officers from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office and Waukegan police also assisted with the initial investigation.

Gurnee police said no one else was injured in the incident. Evidence at the scene indicated there was more than one suspect involved in the shooting.

No charges have been filed, but police are talking to one suspect. The incident remains under investigation, police said.

Gurnee police are requesting that anyone having any information regarding the shooting contact them at (847) 599-7000 or Lake County Crime Stoppers at (847) 662-2222.

Information may be given to Crime Stoppers anonymously and you could be eligible for a cash reward for information leading to an arrest.
