WAUKEGAN — A North Chicago teen has been referred to Hulse Juvenile Detention Center after Waukegan police found him with eight bags of marijuana.

The 14-year-old, whose identity is not being released because he is not being charged as an adult, was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped Sept. 15 in the area of 8th Street and Lincoln Avenue, according to Waukegan police.

Eight bags of cannabis were found. Each bag contained about one gram each and were packaged for sale.

The teen was charged with unlawful possession of cannabis.

Each bag was sold for $5, the teen told police. The teenager was in a vehicle that an older sibling was driving. The driver was not charged.

No other contraband was found after a K-9 unit responded.

The juvenile is a North Chicago resident. He was previously arrested on similar charges and has a pending theft case out of Gurnee, according to Waukegan police.
