A man was arrested after he was found wearing a holstered gun while sitting at a Libertyville tavern. After a search, police found another gun and ammo in his vehicle.
Patrick Nichols, 52, of 207 West Park Ave., Apt. 108, Libertyville, was sitting in Downings Bar at 431 S. Milwaukee Ave. on Oct. 9 just after 1 a.m. when a patron noticed he was wearing a holster with a weapon.
The patron alerted an employee who called police. Police found the weapon in a holster and a loaded ammunition magazine on his person. Nichols was arrested without incident. Inside his vehicle in the parking lot, police found a second handgun and three loaded magazines.
Nichols was charged with possession of a firearm without a Firearm Owner’s Identification Card (FOID), two counts of possession of a firearm while FOID revoked, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and unlawful use of a weapon, police said.
A bond hearing was held Oct. 10 and his bond was set at $50,000. He was placed in Lake County jail.
Police said Nichols did not explain why he was carrying a gun and he did not make a statement after his arrest.
