GRAYSLAKE — College of Lake County police have determined a reported sex assault Wednesday involved acquaintances.
Police sent out a text alert Thursday that the department was investigating a reported sexual assault on the Grayslake campus.
Police received a call Wednesday at around 8 p.m. from Highland Park Hospital officials that a female student sought treatment, saying she had been sexually assaulted on campus.
However, CLC Police Chief Thomas Guenther said late Thursday the incident “did not involve a stranger-predator type of situation.”
“For this reason, we do not believe there is an ongoing threat to our campus community,” he said. “Our police are investigating, and because the investigation is ongoing, at this time, we cannot provide details.”
Campus police interviewed the victim and she said the assault occurred Wednesday around 12:30 p.m. in the area of the main courtyard by a willow tree near Willow Lake and behind the flagpoles on the southwest side of the campus. She was treated and released from the hospital.
She described the attacker as a white male with a lanky build who stood about 5-feet 10-inches tall. He had brown hair and was wearing a blue or green sleeved shirt.
