One of the Republican candidates for Lake County Circuit Court Judgeship B filed a certificate to withdraw from the March 20 primary election on Feb. 1, according to the Illinois State Board of Elections.
Buffalo Grove attorney Todd Projansky, 45, filed his withdrawal too late to be removed from the ballot, according to Lake County Clerkâs Office.
The last day to remove a name from the ballot was Jan. 12.
Republican candidate Thomas Schippers of Mundelein, a sitting associate judge, is now running unopposed in the primary. Nancy Waites of Mundelein is the only Democratic candidate running for the opening.
Subcircuit B is a new judgeship covering Buffalo Grove, Vernon Hills, Mundelein, Long Grove, Kildeer, parts of Hawthorn Woods, half of Libertyville, about half of Grayslake and some of Round Lake Park.
Projansky did not immediately return a phone call seeking comment. He has been an attorney practicing traffic and criminal law since 1993.
