Culinary arts scholarship: Marco Bahena of Vernon Hills, a new graduate of the Kendall College School of Culinary Arts, Chicago, received the second Edition of Sammic Scholarships through BasqueStage. The scholarship offers Bahena an all-expenses-paid six-month internship at Chef Martín Berasategui’s eponymous three-Michelin-star restaurant in Lasarte near San Sebastian, Spain.
Freshman Excellence Award: Rebecca White received the Ferdinand Plaenert New Freshman Excellence Award Scholarship from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is a graduate of Grant High School, Fox Lake.
