Coach Wendy Podbielniak: “Amber is one of the most competitive kids I have ever coached. The combination of power and speed with this young lady is amazing. She is the complete athletic package.”

Coach Denise Bromberek: “Katie embodied the definition of consistency for the RedHawks this year. She could always be counted on to produce both defensively and offensively in pressure situations.”

Coach James Holba: “Katie can do anything on the softball field, and she developed into a wonderful leader in the dugout. She will do great things playing in college.

Coach James Holba: “Kelly is the total package: fast runner, strong arm, hit for average, hit for power and the ability to track down anything in the outfield.”

Notable: All-Suburban Catholic, will play volleyball at Olivet Nazarene.

Coach Kevin Pittman: “Becky’s pure athleticism, drive and passion make her a fierce competitor. Athletes like her are few and far between, but finding a better person is even harder to do.”

Notable: All-SouthWest Suburban Red, two-time All-Area, verbally committed to George Washington University.

Coach Aimee Lonigro: “Jill’s greatest asset to our team is her leadership and knowledge of the game. She makes everyone around her better.”

Coach Elizabeth Pawlicki: “Alexis played a vital role in our team this spring. She was not only a leader on the team but also the “mother hen” of our program. Her presence and skills will be greatly missed next season.”

Coach Sue Giannantonio: “Abby was outstanding this season playing multiple positions. She helped the team with her bat and speed. We can’t wait for next season.”

Coach Jim Fabianski: “Candice was the recipient of our Excellence Award this year, which is voted on by teammates and coaches and goes to the athlete who best exemplifies what Sandburg softball is all about. She is an amazing person who bleeds blue and gold and always does what’s best for the team.”

Notable: South Suburban Red Player of the Year, four-time All-Area, will attend Northwestern.

Coach Julie Folliard: “Brianna is the best I’ve ever coached in 25 years. She’s just a special athlete with an incredible will to win.”


School: Lincoln-Way West

Notable: All-SouthWest Suburban Red.

Coach’s Comment: “Sam is setting the standard high for future players in our program and has already set many program records after her third season playing at the varsity level.”

Notable: South Suburban Blue Player of the Year, three-time All-Area, 2011 SouthtownStar Player of the Year, will attend Radford.

Coach’s Comment: “Emily has given so much to the Oak Forest softball program in her four years as a Bengal. She came prepared every day to work hard and motivate her teammates to be successful.”


School: Marian Catholic

Year/Position: Junior/SS

Numbers: .558 BA (school record), 11 2B, 5 HR, 42 R, 38 RBI.

Notable: All-East Suburban Catholic.

Coach Kerri Evans: “Alex is the player that inspires coaches to keep coaching because she not only has tremendous talent, but also is extremely coachable while having fun every day. She works hard and has a passion for softball and for helping her team win.”


School: Mother McAuley

Notable: All-GCAC Red, will attend Loyola University.

Coach Colleen Kilduff: “Ashley has been the anchor of this team the last two years, we would never have made it as far as we did during playoff time without her.”

Notable: All SouthWest Suburban Blue, two-time All-Area.

Coach Katie Rice-Hoger: “As a captain Kate really stepped up in the leadership role this season. She did what was best for the team, even if it meant playing positions she was not used to, and when asked did not hesitate. She is truly is a team player.”


School: Beecher

Year/Position: Junior/P-SS

Numbers: 15-3, 163 K, 1.70 ERA, .482 BA, 59 RBI.

Notable: All-River Valley Conference.

Coach Kevin Hayhurst: “Savannah is an excellent student-athlete who keeps improving every year. She is a tireless worker who is a real student of the game.”


School: Morgan Park Academy

Year/Position: Senior/C

Numbers: .500 BA, 6 3B, 38 R, 25 RBI.

Notable: Independent School League Player of the Year (2nd time), will play at Butler.

Coach Kathryn Galley: “I’ve never coached a player more capable of getting the job done. Kelly is the consummate team player, and has raised the level of play at Morgan Park Academy. She has left an indelible mark on the program.”


School: Marian Catholic

Year/Position: Junior/C

Numbers: .382 BA, 8 2B, 8 HR, 37 RBI.

Notable: All-East Suburban Catholic, two-time All-Area.

Coach Kerri Evans: “Becca is great player to coach. She has so much fun everyday and works to get better every day. She has a strong desire to win and is willing to help any teammate to improve.”


School: Lincoln-Way East

Year/Position: Junior/C

Numbers: .500 BA, 45 RBI, 11 HR, .978 Fld.

Notable: All-SouthWest Suburban Blue.

Coach Elizabeth Pawlicki: “Sam was the ignition in our batting order that we needed this past spring. No matter what the situation was she rose to it and battled through it. Her confidence and determination proved to be nothing to be taken lightly.”


School: Lockport

Year/Position: Senior/P

Numbers: 22-6, 272 K, 187.2 IP, 0.82 ERA.

Notable: All-SouthWest Suburban Blue, will play at Valparaiso.

Coach Marissa Chovanec: “Taylor was our start to our defense. She was solid on the mound mentally and physically. Many times we were able to work out of tough jams due to her poise.”


School: Providence

Year/Position: Junior/P-1B

Numbers: 12 W, 1.45 ERA, 126 K, .458 BA, 31 RBI.

Notable: All-East Suburban Catholic.

Coach Jay Biesterfeld: “Amanda continues to amaze us as she manages to improve year to year on her performance. Offensively, her numbers continue to get better, and pitching-wise she did a great job closing games this year as well as being a starter.”
