Kudos to car dealers: The Antioch car dealers held their annual classic car show June 9 to raise money for the Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago. More then 175 classic cars were present for the public to view.

High gas prices: Regarding the high gas prices at the pump. How can they raise the price within one day by 40 cents or more a gallon when the price of oil per barrel has dropped? That’s price gouging and I thought it was against the law.

Noise police: Everybody knows that the Waukegan is looking to generate more revenue. Now that it’s summertime, I’d like to be able to have the door open, but people are blasting their music so loud.

Plain greed: I’m sure everybody is upset about these outrageous gas prices. I don’t recall seeing anything in the news about an oil spill and the price of crude oil is still quite low. Why are the gas prices this high?

River Road: The development plans for River Road are back in committee because the developers want to change the R-5 zoning and build far more homes then the infrastructure can withstand.

Time for change: The city of Zion has looked bad for years but not for the killings. The politicians are the ones that make it look bad. Why do the people of Zion keep voting in the same “Good Old Boys”?

Cost of a dollar bill: True, the stock market is going up, but the U.S. dollar is going down, at the same time. What will the stock market do when the dollar reaches the point where the paper it is printed on is worth more that the dollar?

Win-win situation: Calling in response to the article in TOTC “Medical marijuana.” The drug is going to be available by prescription for 42 specific aliments. If any of the people applying for jobs have these aliments, it’s a good chance they’re not going to get the job anyhow.

What Nike’s about: According to the news, Nike was backing off of their financial commitment to the Lance Armstrong’s caner program “Live Strong.” This means that Nike only cared about donating to a winner. They have no feeling, no regard or commitment to the people that were benefiting from the research, the treatment and the money.

Geese droppings: I don’t understand why there are beach bans that can take place by the health department due to high bacteria counts from geese and gull droppings.

Lost in North Chicago: Where do you buy a street map of North Chicago that has the new names on it? I’m lost. Now they’re going to rename a different street? Just rename the whole city with the streets included.
