Seven-year-old Jack Meyers of Lake Villa is a Mite Division player in the Maulers youth hockey program that plays out of Rink Side in Gurnee Mills.
Recently, the youngster was named December’s Youth Hockey Player of the Month through a program run by the Chicago Blackhawks and Harris Bank. Each month, a young player and coach are recognized for their accomplishments on the ice, in the classroom and in the community.

Over the holidays, he spent time giving out gift cards to servicemen and women, and he’s also makes sure there is food to be donated to area food drives.
During the off-season, Jack plays soccer and baseball, and spends his time helping out his great-grandfather. Jack and Craig Porazinski (Coach of the Month WO is from Bolingbrook) were recognized at the Jan. 24 Hawks game.
