SRACLC team qualifies for state tournament

The Special Recreation Association of Central Lake County’s Crusaders Gold basketball team has qualified to play at the State Special Olympics basketball tournament in Bloomington next month.
The March Madness evens is March 16-18. The Crusaders qualified by winning their division at a recent district tournament.
“I am so proud of our athletes. Everyone hustled and it was a team effort to get the Gold,” said Crusaders coach Cassie Newton
The SRACLC services areas such as Grayslake, Hawthorn Woods, Lake Zurich, Libertyville, Lincolnshire, Mundelein and Vernon Hills.
The SRACLC offers Special Olympics training programs to individuals with special needs or disabilities.
Sports include basketball, bocce, softball, golf, bowling, powerlifting, equestrian, volleyball, soccer, and track and field.
Both competitive and instructional programs are available.
Adaptive equipment is provided if needed, along with staff designated to help with instruction and supervision.
