College of Lake County’s men’s cross country team finished seventh in a 12-team field at the Warrior Invitational hosted recently by Wisconsin Lutheran College in West Allis.

Trinity Christian won the meet.

All seven CLC runners covered the 4.96-mile course in personal-best times.

The Lancers were led by a pair of Warren High School grads, Roberto Lara and Michael Harland, who placed ninth and 11th.

Anthony Arenas (Round Lake) finished 28th, Peter Grum (Lake Forest) was 41st and Ubaldo Tercero (Stevenson) was 57th to round out the scoring for CLC. Nic McAdams (Vernon Hills) placed 60th and Jarrad Munro (Vernon Hills) finished 60th.

“There were several good performances here today,” said CLC coach Steve Blomgren. “This group of all freshmen runners has been impressive. A few of them never competed on their high schools’ varsity teams but here they are making an impact on our team.

We had PRs from everyone, four runners under 30 minutes, and Roberto and Michael were the second and third freshmen finishers.”

In the women’s 3.72-mile race, Stefani Canadzic placed 37th, Lauren Hallendorff (Vernon Hills) was 58th and Jannet Cervantes (Zion-Benton) finished 83rd.
