This weekend — the renewal of the Grayslake Central/Grayslake North football rivalry — is a huge one for the community.
But last weekend was every bit as big for one member of Grayslake Central High School’s football coaching staff.
That’s when current Rams assistant coach Chuck Whittington Jr. was presented with his second star at the 29th Infantry’s Change of Command Ceremony in Fort Belvoir, Va.
Attending the ceremony with Coach Whitt were current Grayslake Central football coaches Ben Ault and Dan Catanzaro, along with Nick Goshe, who was the Rams’ head coach for the past several years before moving on to Palatine Fremd.
“Coach Ault, Coach Catanzaro, and Coach Goshe were honored to take part in the ceremony. Coach Whitt is a great man and well-deserving of such a notable position,” Goshe said.
