Lake Forest’s Chody and Bund are NSC’s best

The North Suburban Conference cross country championships turned into a showcase for Lake Forest on Saturday at Fox Valley Park in Wilmot, Wis.
Billy Bund of the Scouts was the winner of the boys race.
And not only did Elle Chody of Lake Forest win the girls race, but her effort led the Scouts to the team championship.
Lake Zurich won the boys title.
Bund beat Warren star Martin Martinez by five seconds, with Nick Korumel of Libertyville third.
Chody beat Warren’s Meg Tully by about three seconds, and the Scouts won the team title when Helen Schlachtenhaufen (5th), Gabrielle Simock (7th), Callie Schmidt (15th) and Claire Yendell (21st) also came up big.
The Scouts’ total of 49 team points was safely ahead of Warren (57) and Lake Zurich (67).
Warren’s team score included Tully’s second-place effort, and solid showings by Greta Doden (11th), Rachel Shoemaker (13th), Becky Haight (14th) and Emily Jahn (17th).
In the boys race, Alex Milner’s fourth-place finish led the champion Lake Zurich team.
The top NSC Prairie runners to finish were Ben Morhdieck (8th) and Kyle Whitney (9th) of Vernon Hills.
