GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Grayslake Central def. Grayslake North 25-23, 27-25: The Knights fell to 10-24 overall and 2-9 in the Fox Valley Fox with the loss.

Lake Zurich def. Vernon Hills 25-10, 25-23: Improving Lake Zurich is 20-10 after this win. Layne Self had 9 aces, 8 kills and 5 digs in the win.

Stevenson def. Antioch 25-11, 25-17: The Sequoits play a brutal nonconference schedule, which explains the 17-13 overall record. In this loss to the area’s best team, Amanda Spera had four kills and Marissa Grant nine assists. “We played hard a competed with a strong Stevenson team,” said Antioch coach Glen Heitman. “Our serve-receive really struggled and as a result, we had a hard time running a productive offense.

Grant def. Warren 26-24, 25-19: A quality win for the Bulldogs. Leaders were Gianna Gigliotti, Taylor Rossi, Brooke Buckley, Beka Couch and Mallory Gizowski.

BOYS SOCCER

Libertyville 4, Elk Grove 1: The Wildcats reached the finals of the Elk Grove Regional with an impressive win.

Waukegan 2, Hersey 1: Waukegan, a danger team in the tourney, stunned Hersey in the semifinals of the Stevenson Regional.

Stevenson 1, Lake Zurich 0: The Patriots knocked off the Bears in the semifinals of their own regional and will face Waukegan in the finals. The teams met during the regular season with Stevenson prevailing.
