College of Lake County golf coach Tim Harwood will have a tough act to follow when he begins his second season at the wheel of the Lancer program next fall.
His very first team couldn’t have done much better, winning the Skyway Conference championship and having one of his players have the best scoring average in the six-team league. And to top it off, Harwood was named league Coach of the Year.
Mundelein High School grad and CLC freshman David Krueger was the No. 1 golfer in the Skyway this season, averaging 76.4 in league matches to earn the honor.
In the team scoring, CLC dethroned Waubonsee College as team champion.
In the Skyway, each of the six schools hosts a tournament, and points accumulated each week determine the overall team champ.
Krueger averaged 76.4 in his six league matches to be the top player.
Fifth-best in the league this season was CLC’s Kris McGovern. The Vernon Hills grad averaged 78.
Eighth-best was CLC’s Matt Dohse from Libertyville, and 10th-best was Mike Grum from Warren.
