During the North Suburban Conference season, Libertyville and Stevenson ruled the roost in girls volleyball.

So, it came as no surprise when those two teams combined to have nine players named to the North Suburban All-Conference Girls Volleyball Team.

Libertyville, which won the NSC championship, and also won regional, sectional and Round of 8 supersectionals en route to a fourth-place finish in the state tournament led with five girls honored.

Stevenson, which actually had the area’s best record during the season, had four girls honored.

Lakes was the North Suburban Prairie champ and three Eagles — Emily Aigner, Sarah Horner and Alex Silvola — were honored.

Lakes now has won the NSC Prairie Division (smaller schools) title in back-to-back seasons, but lost each year to the Lake Division champ in the league’s Championship Game.

Antioch sophomore setter Marissa Grant made the all-conference team, meaning that a member of the Grant family — two older sisters also were volleyball stars at Antioch — has made all-conference each year for at least five years in a row.
