Adrian Deere scored 13 points and Warren used a 15-3 run in the second half to seize control, as the Blue Devils beat Barrington 52-50 on Saturday to finish 3-2 in the Mundelein/Warren season-opening boys basketball tournament.

Deere was the Devils’ all-tourney honoree.

Aarias Austin and Dre Von Hill each added nine points for the winners. Austin also had seven assists.

Warren led 51-42 with 43 seconds left, and Barrington hit a pair of 3-balls in the final seconds to make the final score close.

“Our biggest hurdle right now as a group is giving our maximum effort for an entire game,” said Warren coach Ryan Webber. “We’re not ready to sustain that effort for long stretches. That’s going to be the emphasis this week in practice.

“I like that we show flashes of being good. When our skill players play with energy and athleticism, their talent is really on display.”

Zach Bart led Barrington with 20 points.
