Carmel High School senior Lauren Feely, who is also a Level 10 gymnast at Ultimate Gymnastics of Gurnee, recently signed a National Letter of Intent to compete in college for Bowling Green University in Ohio.

“I am so excited to be joining the Falcons,” Lauren commented. “I have visited BG a number of times now and the coaches and the girls on the team have been so friendly and welcoming. I already feel at home there.”

Lauren currently splits her competitive season between Ultimate Gymnastics and Carmel High, where she has been part of the IHSA state-winning team for the past two seasons. She is a two-time IHSA state champion on balance beam and a two-time Level 10 Illinois club state vault champ.

At a high school meet in January, she scored a perfect 10.0 when she stuck her full twisting yurchenko vault.

This past season, Lauren also became the first Ultimate gymnast to qualify for the Level 10 JO National Championships.

“I have been training at Ultimate since I was 4 years old. It is truly my second home,” Lauren explains. “I have had so many great coaches and teammates over the years both at my club and at Carmel. They have all helped me get to where I am today.”

Lauren is hoping to major in Early Childhood Education. “I’d like to teach but I can also see myself maybe coaching gymnastics too,” she says. “I love this sport.”
