Who are those masked men?
In this case, they’re a bunch of good guys who are trying to make the holidays special for children in this area.
On Saturday at the Academy of Our Lady on Grand Avenue in Waukegan, pro wrestlers will be putting on a Lucha Libre (masked grapplers) show, with the price of admission being one new, unwrapped toy.
Not dollars and cents, but TOYS.
The show is being spearheaded by Waukegan’s own Luche Libre star — The New Citizen — who will be in action that night.
“We are trying to raise toys for children who will not have a Christmas this year,” The New Citizen said. “This is the fourth time we have had this event and the first time in waukegan.”
Fourteen wrestlers will be on hand for the event, including Uiz Akiva.
If you do your grocery shopping at Super Fresh Market— a popular store on Lewis Avenue in Waukegan — you already know Uiz Akiva, who works there.
The rest will see Uiz for the first time on Saturday as he will be in the ring, grappling for the kids.
The doors at Academy of Our Lady will open at 5 o’clock, and because the cost of a ticket is a new toy, all seats are general admission and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
The first Lucha Libre match will be at 6 p.m.
