The swimmers on the Waukegan-based Northern Lake County YMCA Seahorse youth swim team continued to post winning times at a tri-meet against the Lattof YMCA Neptunes and the Pav YMCA Poseidons at Lattof YMCA in Des Plaines.
“As the season progresses and the practice mileage increases, it can be tough for kids to drop times,” said Seahorses coach Mike Hewitt
“That didn’t seem to be the case at this meet where nearly every swimmer had at least one season-best time.”
As of this meet, 10 Seahorse swimmers have achieved District Championships qualifying times in 43 events, including first- year swimmers Luis Correa and Caleb Levy (boys 8-under division).
The champion meets are held in March.
Next on the Seahorse schedule is the David Wolf Invitational at the Belvidere YMCA which will be held Sunday, Jan. 6.
