BOYS BASKETBALL
Elk Grove 66, Zion-Benton 57: A lost weekend for the Bees, who followed up on Friday’s 20-point loss to Mundelein with this loss to 7-4 Elk Grove in Round 1 of the Jacobs tourney. Milik Yarbrough had 22 points and eight boards in the loss.
Lakes 65, Hope Academy 46: The Eagles (10-3) won big on Day 1 of the Jacobs tourney. Jake Koehler had a double-double (13 points, 12 boards) for the winners.
McHenry 89, Round Lake 48: On Day 1 of the Grant tourney, the Panthers were routed to fall to 2-9. This a six-team, round-robin event.
Grayslake North 73, Grant 58: The Knights won big on Day 1 of the Grant tourney are 6-3 overall. Grant dropped to 5-7. Play will resume on Wednesday.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Loyola 57, Waukegan 27: The Bulldogs lost on Day 1 of the Suburban Holiday Showcase tournament. Loyola is 8-5.
Palatine 34, Deerfield 21: On Day 1 of the Warren tourney, Deerfield was shut down by the Pirates. Haley Greer led Deerfield in scoring with 10 points.
Grayslake Central 47, Lake Forest 29: In Round 1 of the Warren tourney, Morgan Dahlstrom had 12 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Rams to victory. Carson Sparkman and Maddie Miller each scored 111 in the win. Gabby Perino had 10 points for the Scouts.
North Chicago 61, Grant 56: The Warhawks won for the first time in NSC Prairie play, prevailing despite going 14-of-38 from the foul line.
