Stevenson 54, Maine South 51: Sophomore Jalen Brunson had 23 points as the Patriots advanced to the semifinals at the Proviso West tourney.
Lake Forest 58, Stagg 49: Senior center Sam Downey had 23 points and seven boards as the Scouts advanced to the finals of the Hinsdale South tourney.
Maine West 54, Vernon Hills 41: Stephen Curry (13 points< 7 boards) and Trenton Fulton (12 points, 6 rebounds) led the Cougars in defeat. Vernon Hills was outscored 26-14 in the middle two quarters. The Cougars are 1-2 in the Wheeling tourney and will play for 11th place on Saturday.
Warren 65, Peoria Manual 40: At Pontiac, the Blue Devils (8-5) rolled into the semifinals behind Aarias Austin (17 points) and Adrian Deere (13 points, 4 boards). Warren’s semifinal game against Aurora West at 1 p.m. Saturday will air live on The Cube. Just call up Web site highschoolcube.com on your computer and enjoy the action.
Libertyville 73, Wheeling 62: A 24-9 surge in the second quarter earned the Cats their first win at the Wheeling tourney. They will play Saturday for 13th place. Jack Deichl (19 points, 10 rebounds) led the winners.
Waukegan 46, Lockport 40: The Bulldogs survived a two-point first quarter to win at the Pontiac tourney in a consolation game. Jordan Johnson had 15 points and Devonte Taylor 12.
Lake Zurich 45, Brooks of Chicago 40: At the Pekin tourney, Brad Kruse had 18 points to lead the Bears in a consolation-bracket game.
Plainfield South 53, Grayslake Central 49: The Rams finished 1-3 in the tourney in Bloomington/Normal, losing this battle for 13th place. Danny Reed had 14 points in the loss.
North Chicago 62, Peoria Notre Dame 56: JaVairius Amos-Mays had 22 points and Big Kurt Hall 17 as the Warhawks (13-1) advanced to the finals of the tourney in Bloomington/Normal for the first time ever. They’ll play at 5:10 p.m. on Saturday and Warhawk fans can watch the championship game on The Cube. Just go to your computer and connect to Web site Highschoolcube.com. Glenbrook South 51, Highland Park 41: The Giants are now 1-2 at the Hinsdale South tourney and are 5-9 on the season.
Woodstock 51, Antioch 30: The Sequoits lost to the Streaks in the Marengo tourney.
Wauconda 66, Marengo 33: The Bulldogs crushed the home team and will play for the title in the Marengo holiday tourney on Saturday against either Woodstock North or Sycamore.
Deerfield 68, Carmel 64 (2ot): The Warriors are now 2-1 in the Wheeling tourney and will play for fifth place on Saturday. Carmel is 1-2 in the event. Eric Porter had 17 points to lead the winners. Cullen Barr, Greg Edkins and Nickai Poyser each had 14 points for Carmel.
Zion-Benton 59, Rockford Jefferson 41: In a consolation-bracket game at the Jacobs tourney, Z-B won and is now 3-1 in the event.
Vernon Hills 54, Streamwood 28: The Cougars remained unbeaten on the season and are 3-0 at the Mundelein tourney. Leading the winners were Sydney Smith (16 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists), Lauren Webb (13 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists) and Meri Bennett-Swanson (8 points, 5 rebounds).
