Mundelein hosting big competition Jan. 6

Eleven area schools will be competing Sunday at the Mundelein Invitational poms/dance competition.
This is the first year that poms/dance is an IHSA-sanctioned sport and this is a final tune meet before the state series begins with sectional meets.
Competing on Sunday are Lake Forest, Grant, Vernon Hills, Lakes, Antioch, Carmel, Deerfield, Warren, Libertyville, Mundelein and Zion-Benton.
Poms/dance works like wrestling, with three classes. Lake County’s big schools compete in 3A and smaller schools compete In 2A.
The event will run from 10:20 a.m. until 2:30 and the public is invited.
