Registration for the ninth annual Warren Wave Wipeout youth softball tournament in Gurnee is under way.
The event will be held Friday-Sunday, July 19-21 at the Warren Township Center softball complex.
The facility has 11 fields, three with lights, with washrooms and concessions on site. There is no parking fee, no gate fee and lots of other activities available on and near the facility.
This is a “B” tournament for the 10-under through 16-under age groups and an A/B tournament at the 18-under level.
Cost is $475 per team and there will be a five-game minimum as long as games aren’t rained out.
Pool/seeding games will be Friday through Saturday morning, with bracket play beginning Saturday afternoon. A home-run derby will be held Friday night under the lights.
There will be individual and team trophies for first place, second place and consolation-bracket champs, plus MVP medals.
“Last year, we had a record number of teams, no rain and incredible games. We love hosting this event and look forward to seeing everyone again this year,” said Mike Walsh, tournament director.
Walsh said the tournament tends to fill up quickly so coaches should register their teams now.
