Hampshire 64, Grayslake North 53: The Knights (11-6 overall, 2-2 in the Fox Valley Fox) lost a big one on the road to Hampshire (15-3 overall, 4-1 in the division). A.J. Fish had 25 for the Knights.
Johnsburg 65, Grayslake Central 58: The Rams (2-15) were down 24 after three quarters but closed with a 25-8 run. Danny Reed (20 points) and Alex Lennartz (16) led Grayslake.
Carmel 55, Libertyville 30: Now 8-9, Carmel still has a shot to finish above .500 for first time in two decades.
Mundelein splits: The Mustangs beat Rockford Auburn 72-61 and lost to Normal West 69-59 at the Hononegah tourney. Sean O’Brien had 24 points, 15 rebounds and 8 assists in the Mustangs’ win.
North Chicago 79, St. Ignatius 78 (3ot): Down 15 in the second quarter the Hawks (18-1) outscored St. Ignatius 22-8 in the third quarter and it was close the rest of the way.l JaVairius Amos-Mays had 27 points, JayQuan McCloud 20, and Big Kurt Hall 16 before fouling out in the fourth quarter. Emanual January had nine assists.
Warren 32, Lake Forest 19: Center Kristin Jacobs scored a dozen points and guard Cassie Christie added 11 for the Devils (12-9 overall, 6-3 in the NSC Lake). Lake Forest is 6-17 and 0-7.
Antioch 46, Grant 45: The Sequoits are scuffling a bit and needed to rally from six down in the fourth quarter to win. Paige Gallimore had 18 points in the win.
Vernon Hills 81, Wauconda 11: The Cougars held Wauconda to zero second-quarter points and one third-quarter point. Meri Bennett-Swanson had 21 points in the win.
Stevenson 45, Libertyville 32: In the loss, Olivia Mayer had 15 points and Haley Hoeksel nine.
Marist 59, Zion-Benton 56: Marist is 13-6 after this win in a game played as mart of MLK Weekend in Chicago.
Vernon Hills Sectional: Eric Swanson (228 average for six games) and Justin Onozato (222) of Vernon Hills finished 1-2 individually and led the Cougars to a second-place team finish in the sectional. Glenbrook North won as its five bowlers averaged 201 for 30 total games (6,026). Vernon Hills averaged 198 (5,957) and both qualified for state.
Central Suburban North tourney: Deerfield won the team title over Niles North. Warrior champs included Andrew Mehrholz at 106, Jordan Lieberman at 113, Colton Emmerich at 170 and heavyweight J.J. Nawrot. Highland Park’s Don Ciancio won at 145.
