This was one of those nights that Sean O’Brien will tuck away in the memory bank and pull out whenever he needs to smile.
Before the game, the Mundelein High School senior was honored for joining the list of Mustangs who scored 1,000 points in their varsity hoops career.
Then, the 6-foot-5 wing went out and scored 26 points to lead Mundelein to a 62-56 win over highly regarded Lake Forest in a key North Suburban Conference Lake Division basketball game.
The Mustangs are now 5-2 in the division and Lake Forest is 5-3.
Lake Forest led 16-9 after a quarter and 26-25 at the break, but Mundelein then took control.
Sophomore Evan Boudreaux had 16 points and nine boards for the Scouts.
