Two members of North Chicago High School’s’ boys basketball team (22-1 record) apparently have been dismissed from the squad and three others were suspended Friday morning for violating school athletic policy.
Three of the five will miss the remainder of the regular season and could return for the playoffs if they fulfill certain requjirements, according to North Chicago head coach King Coleman. The other two are not expected to be b ack.
The five are JaVairius Amos-Mays who is the team’s leading scorer, key reserves Joe Thomas and Travaris Knox, and subs Jay Finch-Pettis and Denzel Adams. Coleman did not say which three will have the opportunity to return.
However, a source close to the situation sugggested that the two players who won’t be back are higher-profile players.
North Chicago was to play at Lakes on Friday, needing a win to wrap up the North Suburban Conference Prairie Division title. Lakes is the other team in title contention.
