Free public skating on Feb. 16 at RecPlex

Updated: March 7, 2013 6:40AM

To celebrate February as National Skating Month, the RexPlex in Pleasant Prairie is offering a free open skate on Saturday, Feb. 16.

The free skate will be from 11:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. During that time, there will be a free group skating lesson for novices who want to improve their skating skills.

Skate rentals will be available, if needed, for a $3 fee. A figure skating exhibition will be held, following the other activities, at 2:00 p.m.

Skatefest was initiated as an introduction to the U.S. Figure Skating basic skills programs offered at RecPlex and as a way for parents to learn if their children have an interest in the sport of figure skating prior to registering for the program.

For more information about Skatefest, contact RecPlex at (262) 925-6755.

The RecPlex is located just east of I-94. More information about the facility is at www.RecPlex Online.com.
