The Great Lakes Adaptive Sports Association and the Lake Forest College athletics department will team up for the third annual “The Sleds Are Coming Again!” event on Sunday.
This is a sled hockey game matching members of the GLASA’s Sled hockey team against athletes from the college. The game will be played at the LFC rink on Sheridan Road at 2:30 p.m.
Admission is free and open to the public, but donations are encouraged to support the GLASA.
Chicago Wolves mascot “Skates” will make an appearance as a special guest.
The purpose of “The Sleds Are Coming” is to bring campus and community exposure to GLASA and showcase its sled hockey program while raising funds for the GLASA Falcons sled hockey team and other GLASA athletic programs.
Last year, the event raised nearly $5,000 for the organization and had over 400 people in attendance. The competition on the ice consisted of two 15-minute periods of 8-on-8 sled hockey played by members of the GLASA Falcons and several Forester athletes from various sports. This year, the Lake Forest College men’s and women’s hockey players will face off in two 15-minute periods of 8-on-8 hockey against the GLASA Falcons.
