With Ultimate’s optional-level teams taking time to prepare for this weekend’s Chicago Style meet at Navy Pier, the compulsory level girls were bringing home the trophies a little closer to home. Competing at the St Valentine’s Classic meet at the Lake County Fairgrounds, the Level 5 and 6 girls teams both celebrated first-place finishes.

The Level 6 girls dominated the all-around in all three age groups. Among the 10 year olds, Ultimate gymnasts took the top medal honors with Gurnee’s Lyndsey Basara finishing first, Abbie Bosko second and Olivia Roebuck third. Lyndsey won gold on three out of the four events with teammate Emily Isabelli taking first place on the other event — balance beam.

In the 11 year old age group, it was a similar story in the all-around. Riley Finnegan placed first, Sabrina Panlqui was second and Ally Weihs third. In the individual events, Lexi Miller won vault, Sabrina won bars, Ally took the beam gold and Jenna Ritzert was top on floor.

Finally, in the oldest (12-over) age group, Libertyville’s Kylie Skie made it a clean sweep with five gold medals. Her teammate Delany Jones won four silver medals and Lea Alatzakis came away with one silver and three bronze.

At Level 5, Gurnee’s Ashley Derrick continued her successful season in the 7-8 year old age group with wins on everything except beam. Her teammate Lain Montoya placed second on beam and third in the all-around.

In the 9-year-old age group, top all-around honors went to Kayleigh Glickey, who also placed first on three out of four events. The one gold that eluded her — balance beam — went to fellow Ultimate gymnast Emma Stermitz. Claire Kauppila placed second in the all-around and Ashley Weihs was third. On vault, there was silver for Amanda Britton and bronze for Ella Skelton.

In the 10-year-old age group, first place in the all-around went to Gracie Gnatt, who also took the top spot on vault and bars and tied for beam gold with teammate Gianna Pasquesi. Madeline Medica was second on floor and third on vault while Olivia Fletcher won silver on uneven bars.

In the 11-year-old age group, Kaylee Rychel claimed the all-around title and took first on beam while Sophie Prozument was first on floor, second on vault and third on bars and in the all-around.

In the 12-over age group, Zion’s Jordan-Ann Scott had a great meet, placing first on vault and in the all-around and taking silver on bars and beam and bronze on floor.

Natalie Warnes won the beam title scoring an impressive 9.60. She was also third on bars.
