Highly touted freshman Tineesha Coleman scored 28 points and grabbed 17 rebounds to led North Chicago to a shocking 64-60 win over Carmel on Friday in the finals of the Class 3A Johnsburg Regional.
The Hawks will face Grayslake Central on Tuesday in the Vernon Hills Sectional.
The Warhawks outscored Carmel 6-1 over the final 2:38 of the game.
Coleman hit a free throw with 15 seconds left to give North Chicago a 62-60 lead and Carmel then turned the ball over.
With four seconds left, Carolyn Leonard sealed the deal for the Warhawks by hitting a pair of free throws.
Coleman, the grand-daughter of North Chicago High School boys coach King Coleman, did not play with the varsity for most of the season. She was on the freshman team.
