Jr. Heat Rookies go 3-0 in first event of spring

The Highwood-based Small Fry (players under 5 feet tall) youth basketball program’s 2013 spring season is under way.
The first game was played at the Joy of the Game facility in Deerfield and the Jr. Heat team had a successful start to the year.
The Jr. Heat Rookies beat the Glenbrook Dynasty 28-19 as Justin Marshall had seven points and Drew Grossman six. Both are from Deerfield.
In the second game, the Jr. Heat Rookies beat the Plainfield Raptors 45-32, with Grossman scoring 13 points and Floyd Bailey of Beach Park adding 12.
In the final game, the Jr. Heat Rookies beat Kenosha 53-39. Marshall scored 16 points and Cole Valfer of Deerfield and Grossman each scored five.
Also contributing to the three wins were Anthony Norberg from Northbrook, Nate Fleisher from Highland Park, Danny Raske from Deerfield, and Joey Charrlin of Highland Park.
