Grayslake North pulls away late to win

Danny Mateling scored 10 of his 17 points in the fourth quarter as visiting Grayslake North pulled away from crosstown rival Grayslake Central late and earned a 69-69 victory Tuesday in the Fox Valley Conference Fox Division finale for both teams.
A.J. Fish had 24 points for the Knights, who led just 44-42 after three quarters and trailed 30-28 at halftime.
North will play in the Class 4A division when March Madness begins and Grayslake Central will play in 3A and likely gete a shot at powerful Lakes in the Vernon Hills Regional.
Danny Reed had 12 oints, Joey Mudd 10, Malcolm Reed 9 and Matt Spalding 9 for Central, who let the game get away at the foul line. Grayslkae Central was 7-of-15 from the stripe while North was 14-of-19.
Both teams have non-conference road games on Friday night. North finished a disappointing 5-7 in the division and is 15-11 overall. The Rams finsiehd 2-10 in the loop and are 4-21.
