The winter storm that painted the northern suburbs white on Tuesday affected more than the teams scheduled to play Tuesday in the IHSA’s boys basketball tournament.
It also affected teams that weren’t even scheduled to play Tuesday.
Because of the snow, no games involving any of the eight regionals that Lake County basketball fans are following were played on Tuesday.
Here’s the IHSA policy involving rescheduling:
■ If a doubleheader was scheduled for Tuesday, it will be played as a doubleheader on Wednesday.
■ If a single game was scheduled for Tuesday, it will be played at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The game scheduled for Wednesday, will now be played at 7:30 on Thursday.
That second policy affects Warren and Waukegan, who weren’t supposed to play Tuesday.
Instead of Warren hosting Barrington on Wednesday, the Devils will host the Broncos on Thursday.
Same for Waukegan at Prospect. Originally scheduled for Wednesday, that game will now be on Thursday.
This also means there will be a 3A game at North Chicago on Thursday, featuring Prosser and Chicago Northside.
North Chicago will host Antioch on Wednesday after being snowed out on Tuesday.
In Class 3A, the Senn, North Chicago, Vernon Hills and Ridgewood regional winners will advance to the Antioch Sectional.
In Class 4A, the Warren, Deerfield, Lake Zurich and Prospect regional winners will advance to the Dog Pound and the Waukegan Sectional.
The Waukegan Sectional winner will advance to NIU in DeKalb and play a team from the Elgin or Rockford areas. Last year, Warren lost to Rockford Auburn there.
