Busy weeks ahead for area runners, walkers

The Mundelein Park District is holding its 34th annual Freedom Classic 3.1-mile run/walk on Independence Day at 8 a.m.
The race starts/finishes at Mione Community Park (north of Route 176 and south of Route 137).
In addition to the 3.1-mile run/walk, there is a free half-mile run for youngsters age 4-10 at 9 a.m.
There is race-day registration, or you can do it online at www.signmeup.com.
The annual Antioch Run for Freedom 3.1-mile run will be held at 8 a.m. on Independence Day, which is a Thursday this year.

The Deerfield Rotary Club’s 6.2-mile Run at Family Days will be held on Independence Day at 8 a.m.

Independence Grove on Route 137 on the northeast side of Libertyville, the area’s top run ning location, is the site of the YWCA’s Walkforward 2013 event at 8 a.m. on Sunday.

The Lake County Fairgrounds off of Peterson Road in Grayslake will be the site of the Dirty Girl Mud Run on Saturday, June 29. Cost to participate is $100.
This is a 3.1-mile course that challenges women with obstacles, challenges and lost of mud.

The Wauconda Fest Challenge 3.1-mile and 6.2-mileruns will be held at 8 a.m. on Sunday, June 30 at Cook Park on Main Street in Wauconda.

The Lincolnshire Community Association’s annual 3.1-mile Red, White & Boom! road run will be held on Independence Day at 8 a.m. and Spring Lake Park.
