Though the team plays its games in Rosemont, home base for the Chicago Sky women’s pro basketball team is Deerfield, just as it is for the Chicago Bulls.
The Sky practices at the Sachs Center in Deerfield, and now that the team has a bonafide star player in Elena Delle-Donna and is winning, the club is catching on in the community.
Toward that end, the Men’s Club of Deerfield recently had Sky coach Pokey Chatman as guest speaker at one of their regular meetings at the Patty Turner Center, which is a Deerfield Park District venue.
Chatman gave a morning presentation on her career as head coach and general manager of the Chicago Sky. She also discussed the league, players and the sports industry, and it ended with a lengthy Q/A period which allowed members to raise a variety of interesting questions.
