This is Homecoming Week for Waukegan High School and, without a doubt, the most popular game played during parking-lot tailgating at high school football games throughout the area is “bags.”
The good news for adults in the community is that they don’t know have to wait until Saturday’s pre-football game fun to showcase how much game they’ve got when it comes to bags.
They can take a crack at it on Friday night and be helping the wrestling program at Waukegan High in the process.
The second annual Wrestling Fundraising Bags Tournament for Waukegan High wrestling will be held on Friday at 6 p.m. at Anastasia’s restaurant (just north of Walmart and south of Route 120 in what is now the heart of Waukegan).
The cost for a two-player team is $20 and there will be prizes for the first- and second-place teams.
There also will be raffles throughout the event and lost of fun. This is an adults-only event (21-over please).
Registration is at 4 o’clock on Friday or, you can register at both campuses of Waukegan High School. At Brookside, see Chelsea Rogers in Room E151. At Jackson/Washington, see Luke Karner in Room 232/236.
The varsity wrestling coach at Waukegan is Jack Troesch.
