Jason Brown of Highland Park is continuing his ascent toward the top of the rankings in the sport of men’s figure skating.

The reigning silver medalist in the World Junior Division, he finished third recently in an International Skating Union-sanctioned competition in the Senior Division in Paris. The event is part of the ISU’s Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series.

Brown, who trains in Monument, Colo., represents the Skokie Valley Skating Club and is coached by Kori Ade and Rohene Ward.

The Senior Division is where the Olympic skaters come from and a skater becomes a Senior when he/she reaches 18 years old.

Brown finished third in both the short program and the long program. His short program, set to “The Question of U” by Prince, featured four triple jumps, including a triple flip-triple toe combination.

The gold medal went to three-time world champion Patrick Chan of Canada.
