Eclipse Select is one of the dominant youth soccer clubs in the Chicago area, and that was reflected last weekend in the results at the Oktoberfest Shootout tournament in Waukegan.
Eclipse teams won titles in eight of the 12 age/sex divisions of play. The tourney was held at SportsPark on Waukegan’s far northwest side. The site used to be Orchard Hills Golf Course.
Eclipse Select is an enormous travel program with bases in several suburban locations, including Libertyville.
During the weekend, players from all teams got to compete in a Soccer Skills Challenge, and Eclipse Select players won in eight of the 12 divisions.
However, none of the Skills Challenge winners were from Lake County.
The Lindenhurst Area Soccer Club entered a team in the high-school girls division of play, but the LASC had no luck, losing all three of its matches in the round-robin competition.
While Oktoberfest was going on, an Eclipse Select under-17 girls team was competing successfullyion the national stage in Arizona, winning three straight games.
